Clinton "Ike" Lawler, 85, Strasburg, ND, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 in the StrasburgCareCenter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008 at PeaceLutheranChurch, Linton, ND with Rev. Fred Henkelmann officiating. Burial will be in the LintonCemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND, and one hour before service time at the church on Thursday. Clinton E. Lawler was born December 20, 1922 in EmmonsCounty, the son of Frank and Reginia (Farrell) Lawler.He attended rural grade school and graduated fromLintonPublicHigh School in 1940.Ike attended JamestownCollege, and graduated in 1944 with a B.S. degree in Chemistry.Ike worked for the North Dakota State Lab for almost three years.He entered the Army Reserve but shortly thereafter received an honorable discharge.He returned to the area and became a rancher.He remained a bachelor until June 17, 1972, when he married Phyllis Lindberg in Vancouver, WA.Phyllis died September 7, 2002.Ike farmed in EmmonsCounty from 1949 ~ 2000.He served on the ASCS County Committee for 28 years.Ike enjoyed watching professional football, doing crossword puzzles, reading books and newspapers.He also liked hunting pheasant, ducks and deer.He had a good sense of humor and was very sharp, with comments on the humorous side.Ike is survived by one son and daughter-in-law:Rich and Jodi Lawler of Linton, ND; two daughters and sons-in-law:Deanna and Craig Schmidt of Vancouver, WA and Jana and Gary Griffin of Hazelton, ND; three grandchildren, Craig Griffin, Samantha and Nicole Lawler; one brother and three sisters-in-law:Harris and Linda Lawler of Oakdale, CA; Margaret Lawler of Mandan, ND and Jeannette Lawler of Grand Forks, ND.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2002 and three brothers, Frank, Murray and Terry.

John Kelsch, 88, Linton, ND died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Rev. Gary Benz officiating.Burial will be in the church Cemetery.Visitation will be Friday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND with a prayer service to be held at 8:00 p.m.Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.John Kelsch was born April 4, 1920 in Linton, ND, the son of Valentine and Mary Eva (Senger) Kelsch.He attended LintonHigh School and graduated in 1941.He continued his education by attending FargoBusinessCollege.On November 3, 1943, John married Albina Holzer at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Trail City, SD.They lived on the family farm east of Linton and had four children.In 1968, they moved into town and he continued farming.John was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.He was the second president as well as a lifetime member of the Beaver Valley Horse Club.John enjoyed many hobbies, including playing the drums, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family.He also had a passion for horses that continued throughout his life.John is survived by his wife: Albina of Linton; two sons: Gary Kelsch of Linton, ND and special friend, Barb Mueller of Napoleon, ND; and Gerry Kelsch of Bismarck, ND; two daughters and two sons-in-law: Geraldine and Terry Hager of Omaha, NE; and Joannie and Rick Schulz of Streeter, ND; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Julia Mattern and Amellia and Leo Wolf, all of Bismarck, ND; and one brother and sister-in-law: Clarence and Doris Kelsch of Eugene, OR.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Simon and a daughter-in-law: Frances Kelsch.John was devoted to his family and friends and he will be dearly missed.

The funeral for Wendelin Schlosser, 97, Strasburg, ND, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND, with Rev. Leonard Eckroth and Rev. Al Leary officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He died Thursday, November 6, 2008 in a Brainerd, MN hospital. Visitation will be 9 a.m to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Wendelin Schlosser was born on April 23, 1911 in New Leipzig, ND, the son of Peter and Eva (Kuntz) Schlosser.On October 22, 1934, he married Anna Baumgartner at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg, ND.They lived in Strasburg for eight years before moving to Napoleon, ND for one year.Upon returning to Strasburg, Wendelin and Anna lived most of their lives farming just north of town.They moved into an apartment in Strasburg in 1993.Anna died March 18, 2002. Wendelin was a lifetime member of the Strasburg Knights of Columbus.He loved to go hunting and fishing and also enjoyed playing cards.Grateful to have shared his life are:his son and daughter-in-law:Jim and Carol Schlosser of Merrifield, MN; his brother and sister-in-law:Louis and Janice Schlosser of Bismarck, ND; two sons-in-law:Charles Keller of Strasburg, ND and Magnus Wagner of Strasburg, ND; 17 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Eva; his wife: Anna; one son: Tom; three daughters and one son-in-law: Theresa Keller, Agatha Wagner and Betty and Tony Silbernagel; four brothers: Tony, Frank, Mike and Sebastion; and six sisters: Magdalena Feist, Agatha Fettig, Regina Feist, Ann Rahrich, Margaret Wald and Barbara Schlosser.
Ange married John K. Vander Laan on December 9, 1932 at her parents farm near Westfield, ND, and they made their home on a farm northwest of Pollock, SD.They spent their lives less than 20 miles from their birthplaces until she needed to move to the Good Samaritan Center in Herreid in 2004. Ange was a lifetime member of Hope Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School and was church organist for many years.She was an active member of the Women’s groups at church, the Five and Twenty Extension Club and Pollock Senior Citizens.Ange enjoyed music, reading, traveling and card playing.She and John felt fortunate to make several trips with friends or family to enjoy and appreciate their country.John died on January 3, 1992 and Ange continued to live on the family farm with her son.She died November 8, 2008 in the StrasburgCareCenter, Strasburg, ND.

Larry E. Ellingson, 71, Strasburg, ND, died Monday, November 3, 2008 in the LintonHospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at PeaceLutheranChurch, Linton, ND. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be held at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 with burial to follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Osage, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.. Larry E. Ellingson was born August 26, 1937 in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the son of Martin and Laura (Kolman) Ellingson. He attended school in Osage, Iowa, and graduated from the Osage, IowaHigh School in 1956.Larry proudly served in the US Armed Forces in the US Navy and the US Marine Corps for four years. Larry married Sharon Lunde on December 21, 1958 in Osage, Iowa.Following their marriage, Larry worked as a lab/X-Ray Technician in several places, including Floyd, Iowa, Minneapolis, MN, Gregory and Burke, South Dakota.Larry worked as Hospital Administrator in Platte, South Dakota and then attended Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN.He continued to work as Hospital Administrator in Winterset, IA, Linton, ND, Fort Sumner, NM, and Gooding ID.For the past six years, they had been living in Strasburg, ND. He was a member of the Masons and the Linton Lions.Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Larry is survived by his wife: Sharon of Strasburg, ND, two sons and two daughters-in-law:Martin and Karin Ellingson of Tucson, AZ and David and Renae Ellingson of Strasburg, ND; one daughter and son-in-law:Marie and David Anderson of St. Peter, MN; nine grandchildren: Raven, Drew and Riley Ellingson; Brandon and Lauren Ellingson, Clinton, Gregory and Lindsey McDonald and Randi Anderson; three brothers and three sisters-in-law:Marloe and Alice Ellington of Osage, IA, Sheryl and Rose Ellingson of Osage, IA and Garry and Sharon Ellingson of Austin, MN.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathryn Asfahl and Delores Robinson and two brothers, Morris and Merle.
