Funerals
Funeral practices are influenced by religious and cultural traditions, costs and personal preferences. These factors help determine whether the funeral will be elaborate or simple, public or private, religious or secular, and where it will be held. They also influence whether the body will be present at the funeral, if there will be a viewing or visitation, and if so, whether the casket will be open or closed, and whether the remains will be buried or cremated.
A traditional service for burial, entombment or cremation, is usually the service of choice. The traditional funeral service is a meaningful expression for the family, and it gives friends and associates an opportunity to offer their support and tributes.
Generally, a member of the clergy or other person chosen by the family conducts a service of remembrance. We encourage the active participation of the family in helping plan this part of the service. Many times family members choose to personalize the service by giving a reading, singing or assisting the clergy.
Cremation
Contrary to what most people believe, cremation does not limit one's choices. The choice of cremation does not eliminate a funeral service. A funeral service followed by cremation need be no different than a funeral service followed by ground burial. Following the funeral service and cremation, the cremated remains are placed in an urn before being committed to a final resting place. The cremation urn may be buried, placed in an indoor or outdoor cemetery columbarium, or scattered where permitted by law.
Cremation does not limit, but in fact increases the options available. The options for ceremonies prior to or following the cremation can include the selection of a casket or an urn, visitation with the body present (or memorial visitation where the urn is the focal point), a display of photographs or personal effects and awards, the location of the funeral ceremony and selection of music.
Markers and Monuments
Because we strive to make each and every service meaningful and personalized to honor the memory of your loved one, we follow this same approach when designing a permanent memorial that will forever mark the final resting place of one so dear to you.
Utilizing our years of experience in identifying quality and value, we have partnered with a highly respected granite supplier to offer a large selection of markers and monuments in many colors and designs.
We offer permanent memorials for all budgets and all price ranges and include lettering, dates, carvings, foundation, delivery and installation. We also offer you the opportunity to view a computer-generated rendition of your marker or monument absolutely free of charge. We do this to ensure the accuracy of your memorial while allowing you to see the design for your total satisfaction with every detail. Finally, a written warranty provides peace of mind on your selection for future generations.
The choosing of a memorial is a very personal decision. In making this decision, you should feel secure that your need for quality, variety, value and price are fully addressed. Please call or stop by the funeral home to visit with us about all of the options.
Personalization
We understand the value of our services and the importance of personalization, which is why all of our services can be arranged to meet a family's needs or wishes. Increasingly, we find that individuals want to create a service that reflects a more meaningful tribute.
Every service should be a memorable, warm reflection of the person who has died. Photographs, a special song, even a favorite tie or golf clubs, can be incorporated into the funeral service to make it more meaningful. Our funeral home also offers the following:
·Color Laser jet photo reproduction and design on service folders
·Color photo record of floral tributes prepared and placed in guest book
Grief Support
You will probably feel a variety of emotions when you lose someone you love. The ability to make it through the death of a loved one can be challenging. You may have feelings of shock and disbelief, anger, guilt and depression.
Caring for yourself is not selfish. The period of recovery is different for every person. There is no timetable for grief, so don't compare yourself with others who have lost loved ones. Your life has changed and healing in your own way is important for the health of your mind, body and spirit. It's normal for some days to be better than others.
To help with the grieving process, Myers Funeral Home features a library of books, videos and pamphlets on coping with loss. Our staff can help you choose a resource that may be appropriate for your needs. You are welcome to stop by or to call the funeral home to request information on the options and resources available for coping with grief. We may also have at the funeral home a list of local resources and information who may be able to provide you with sound information to help you cope with your feelings and emotions at this most difficult time.
Please contact the funeral home for more information of any of the services that we offer.
